This is a broad survey course covering the development of human civilization through a representative sampling of past and present cultures. Various aspects of human society will be traced from the "Dawn of Civilization" through the "Space Age". Some of the areas studied are: the development of the rise of modern nation-states, the influence of intellectual thought, and science and technology. The idea that the past is relevant to our time will be strongly emphasized. The specific emphasis will be European History.
