Introduction to Agriculture Industry

Open to: Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Overview: This is a beginning course, offered on a yearlong basis, to acquaint the student with the vocational program at Indian Creek High School and with other career opportunities in the agricultural occupations. This course is designed primarily for freshman students and will provide the basic skills and knowledge required in agricultural careers. (Sophomores, juniors and seniors may enroll in the course with the consent of instructor.) Each student is required to plan and conduct a supervised agricultural experience program and to actively participate in agricultural leadership and in citizenship learning activities. Students will study the following areas: Agricultural Careers, FFA Organization, Record Keeping, Parliamentary Procedure, Soil Science, Plant and Animal Science, Food Science, Agricultural Mechanics, and Horticulture, and Natural Resources.
