Horticulture Production: Landscaping and Turf Management

Open to: Grades 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: HRT200 (or consent of instructor)

Credit: 1/2

Overview: This advanced course will include both interior and exterior landscaping skills. Units of study include identifying and maintaining houseplants, flowering and vegetable plants, trees, shrubs and bushes. Students will also learn how to landscape these plants into the home surroundings. The other major area of study includes turf management, which includes establishing and maintaining turf grass in the home surroundings. Students will gain hands-on learning in these areas through working in the greenhouse and school memorial garden area. Emphasis will be placed upon entry-level employable skills.
