Basic Agricultural Mechanics

Overview: This introductory course that includes theory and hands-on experiences provides opportunities for students to develop basic knowledge and skills in agricultural mechanics. The basic areas include understanding the components of a small gas engine, tool identification, surveying, concrete (masonary) work, understanding fundamentals of electricity, and basic fundamentals of welding including gas cutting, arc welding, and MIG welding. This course is 60% hands on and 40% classroom instruction. Improving workplace and computer skills will be a focus. Participation in FA student organization activities and SAEP projects is an integral course component.
