Overview: Painting will allow students to explore another avenue for creativity. This course will enhance the development of a stronger art history background through the study of various painting techniques and artists styles. Art 175 will allow students to communicate through a variety of paint mediums. The student will learn various painting techniques; will demonstrate a level of craftsmanship appropriate for their ability level; develop a useful vocabulary to effectively communicate art terminology; create works that express feelings and emotions; study well known works of art; discuss the use of the formal and sensory elements in a particular work; develop a better appreciation for all styles of art; and discuss intelligently their likes and dislikes of various works.
