Distance Learning

Course Discription

ICHS offers two distance education opportunities--Illinois Virtual High School (IVHS) and Learn NC/USDLC - for students who would like to take courses we do not offer here at school. Students who take distance education classes must be ready to take a great deal of responsibility for their own learning and be able to study independently. These courses are available only to juniors and seniors who have the approval of the administration.

Students who are interested in distance education classes should see Mrs. Pace for course listings and descriptions.

Students must have a written recommendation from two teachers, parent/guardian approval and approval of the guidance counselor and/or distance education mentor before officially enrolling in a distance education class. See the librarian or the counselor for forms for this approval.

Students must maintain at least a "B" average to be enrolled in a distance education class.

If a student drops a distance education class after the deadline for the school to get a complete refund, the student and parents/guardians will be responisble for the cost of the class. This cost could be as much as $400 per semester.

Distance education grades will appear on the student's report card and transcript. The distance education provider assigns a grade.

Students who enroll in distance education classes will be required to sign a Declaration of Responsibility or an Honor Code
